Jahmi Roc is a Kingston-born, LA-based freedom singer whose sound moves fluidly across reggae, dancehall, R&B, gospel, and hip hop. Hers is music that refuses a single lane — rooted in the island that raised her, reaching for the world.
She is also Dr. Racquel Bernard: a UCLA-trained musicologist whose doctoral work, Empress Epistemologies, studies the ways Black women sing themselves free. On stage and on record, that scholarship becomes song. Her lyrics carry one core message — love and liberate yourself — and every performance is an act of both.

Her debut EP, Love Like Liberation, released July 2026 via Tuff Gong International, distills that vision into nine tracks — intimate, defiant, genre-crossing soul. From the invocation of “Sweet Like Mango” to the benediction of “Blueprint,” it plays like a journal sung out loud.
Her work has drawn early attention across the diaspora — from a feature in Jamaica's The Star, to a live conversation on WMNF's Righteous Rockers Experience in Tampa, to an in-progress documentary chronicling the making of the EP. She carries the tradition of Black women's freedom singing forward while pushing the boundaries of sound and story.
